Poor quality July 23, 2010 Rohi Sukhia (Lexington, MA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The stem (the part you wind up) has popped out three times. The first time, they fixed it under warranty. The second time, a month later, they charged me $275. It came back and a week later the stem was gone again. I stuffed it in a drawer for a few months and when I finally got around to going back to the jeweler, they told me it would be another $275 as the warranty had expired. Shame on me for not bringing it back quicker but frankly I am sick of these guys. The jeweler (Long's Jeweler in Burlington Mass, totally useless and unhelpful) said warranty decisions from Tag are final.
The also mentioned "this was not normal" and "you must be setting the time wrong". I've had numerous watches I know how they work. Furthermore I never set the time after the first return, it came back set correctly I never had to. I only wore this watch to work (desk job) a few times. It was in no way used "incorrectly" nor abused nor hit on anything nor even worn during any type of strenuous activity. It's just a lemon.
I'm not paying another $275 to fix it. Does anyone want a Tag with a missing stem?
BTW My first Tag also had problems, it's a now discontinued model with a problem where the watch would fall off because the metal band was designed in such a way that the pins would come loose.
What is worse than the quality of this watch, is that Tag would charge me $275 to fix it in the first place, then on the third time back for the same problem, they want another $275 to fix it again. Not good at all. Plus it's my second bad experience with a Tag watch.
Tag is the cheap expensive watch. Save your money and get a Timex, or spend some extra and get a Breitling or a Rolex. Don't get a Tag.
DH Jacksonville Jared Galleria July 22, 2010 Drew M. Horlbeck 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased my Formula One from Jared Galleria of Jewelry
My watch stopped keeping time two months after purchase. I had to spend two months for repairs. The said the movement did not work. Tag replaced the entire inside of the watch. The watch is a piece of junk. A new watch that cannot keep time is a joke. The customer service is a joke. DO NOT BUY this watch.
Cool watch!, but I don't know about the warranty... May 6, 2010 JJ First of all, the watch itself is beautiful and elegant. Great price. No complaints about the product. Everything is fine... but when you read the warranty theme, things get a little bit confuse as follows: first, if you read the Manual it says that the warranty comes in a little card inside the package, then you take a look at the little card and says nothing, it is not fill by the distributor as required in the Manual. So, It looks like you don't fulfill the conditions to ask for the warranty as stated in the Manual.
Nice Classic Looking Watch March 17, 2010 Bubbles-Desmo (Bay Area, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just purchased this watch through amazon.com. It was either this or the formula one alarm version at costco. The alarm feature on the other version isn't very useful so I decided against it. Packaging was nice, came in the tag box and case with manual. I like the look of chronograph watches and the additional feature to stopwatch anything is something i wanted to time rides, drives, runs etc...
Style is up to taste, but I find this a simple casual style watch you can wear with a t-shirt or be formal with a suit.
The two buttons on it are pretty easy to use, one to start/split and the other to stop/reset.
The watch has two main features, one is to tell time, and the other is the chronograph.
For telling time, the big red "second" hand doesn't move and hovers over the 12 o'clock mark. The dial on bottom serves as the second hand and moves continuously.
In Chronograph mode, the top right dial only moves after you stop the stopwatch or to do a split time. It will move to show the time in 1/10. The large red second hand will start to move once you are in chronograph mode and the left dial will move for minutes. I'm not sure, but I assume if you do something for over 30 minutes, then the dial will continually move and reset at 1minute.
Overall - I'm very happy with it. I believe Amazon has the lowest price on the web and they give a 2 year warranty which equals TAGs. Costco has a similar warranty deal as well. The prices are better than ebay, and those guys don't even offer a warranty period. The only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is it's reliability and service life. For something you pay $750+ for, you expect it to last nearly a lifetime, This will remain to be seen.
I've also noticed when I purchased, the price fluctuates between 729-749 day to day. So if you're patient, just keep on checking to save that extra $20.00
Great Tag Heuer. February 4, 2010 M. Halus (Santa Fe, New Mexico, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was bit nervous about ordering a fine watch over the internet, but my fears were baseless. I love this watch. It is exactly what was advertised. The only downside is that since Amazon is not an official Tag Heuer retailer you don't get an official warranty card. However Amazon does provide a comparable 2 year warranty. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase.
